Wrestling Styles and Programs

Team Georgia Programs

Team Georgia offers many programs.  

There are over 60 tournaments during the year.  Most of these are Folkstyle events, there are also Freestyle & Greco events.  

Folkstyle season (typically September-March)

Preseason events:  High School wrestlers can participate in addition to middle school and elementary school.

Regular season events: ages 5-14 (and not enrolled in HS 9th-12th)

Beginner events - only for wrestlers with less than 2 years experience,

Middle School Duals, where scholastic teams wrestle against other scholastic teams, Girls events,

Collegiate events:  Team Georgia has been instrumental in helping bring back College wrestling.  Team Georgia has worked with the Georgia College Wrestling Coalition to start programs at Shorter University, Brewton Parker, Life University, Truett McConnell and also help the Junior College Progam Darton College.

State, Regional and Nationals events.

 

Team Georgia assists with NHSCA to help the GHSA with the High School State Duals.

 

Team Georgia sponsors “Beat the Streets Georgia”.  This program has committed to help establish middle school programs in Georgia, focusing on at-risk students. 

 

Freestyle & Greco Roman events:  Season is typically April-July.  Team Georgia sends teams in June & July of wrestlers ages 13-19 to Nationals Duals & Individual Nationals where the best Georgia wrestlers compete against wrestlers from across the Nation.
