For 2025, Team Georgia USA Wrestling will be taking the following teams:
The current plan is to take one team for each event. Each team will seek to fill each weight class and may take a few extra wrestlers at the coach's discretion.
Travel - All dual teams will travel together to the dual tournament (usually a chartered bus, but flights for longer trips). If a wrestler chooses to travel with a parent, the wrestler will be the parent's responsibility for the duration of the trip. This includes all transportation, accommodations, and food. Wrestlers must attend all meetings, warm-ups, and practices and arrive on time. Parents and/or personal coaches will not have floor/mat access. Team Georgia coaches will coach all wrestlers.
Dual Team Qualification & Selection
Any wrestler with a current USAW membership who resides in Georgia is eligible to participate in the Age Group Duals (14U, 16U, Junior or Womens) events if we have spots open on the teams.
The goal is to take our best teams with a chance to win. As such, the team selection will be determined by a dual team committee which is made up of the assigned coaching staff and select Team GA officers. Factors that will be considered include but are not limited to, previous accomplishments in the Olympic styles as well as national folkstyle events, high school state tournament finish, and recent head-to-head wins versus others interested in the same weight class and style. If the coaching staff elects to, a special wrestle-off may occur. This is only at the coaching staff's discretion and not afforded to all wrestlers.
Placement in the Freestyle/Greco state tournament does NOT automatically mean you have qualified for the dual team or which team you will be on. These events may help coaches decide, but it is not a qualifier for the dual team.
Other requirements (purchase uniform, pay required fees, submit required forms, attend national team camps) must be met.
