Guidelines (All Divisions)

-      The Team Georgia Middle School State Duals is for any wrestlers who live in the State of Georgia, enrolled in the 6th thru 8th grade.

-      The Team Georgia Elementary School State Duals is for any wrestlers who live in the State of Georgia, enrolled in Kindergarten thru 5th grade.

-      Wrestlers that are enrolled in high school (9th-12th) are not eligible, even if their age qualifies them.

-      Registration is open to any Sanctioned USA Club or Training Center. Club Teams and Training Centers will compete in their own divisions.

-     The head coach is required to keep a binder with the following information for each wrestler on his or her squad:  photo, birth certificate, and report card with school name.

-     If challenged and the Coach does not have proof, that wrestler will be required to sit out of further duals until such proof can be obtained and given to the Tournament Director or cleared by the Team Georgia Board.

-      Wrestlers must be listed and properly documented on the team roster in order to participate.

 

Tournament Format (All Divisions)

1.   State Tournament entrance fee will be $300 paid online NLT Monday, January 22, 2024.  $100 deposit is due at registration.

2.   Rosters must be submitted by Monday, January 22, 2024 by 9:00 AM

3. “Out of Area” wrestlers cannot be added after this date. Rosters will be locked and no additional wrestlers will be added prior to the Middle School State Duals Tournament.

4.   GHSA Certified Officials with a USWOA Membership must be used on all mats with 1 Head official to oversee the tournament.

5.   Bracketing will be determined once the final number of teams is known. Every effort will be made to allow teams at least 4-5 matches.  Bracketing will take place in the following manner:

a.    Bracketing will consist of a Pool to Bracket type event. There will be 4 pools with 4 teams each.

Pool A, B, C and D.

b.   The winners of each pool will go into the Gold pool and wrestle for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

c.     2nd place teams in each of the A, B, C, D pools will go into the Silver pool and wrestle for 5th-8th.

d.   3rd place teams in each of the A, B, C, D pools will go into the Bronze pool and wrestler for 9th-12th.

e.   4th place teams in each of the A, B, C, D pools will go into the Cooper pool and wrestle for 13th-16th.

6.   Awards:

1.    Gold Bracket Teams who place 1-3 will receive:

a.   Team trophy as well as individual awards for each wrestler. 

2.     Silver Bracket Champions will receive a Team Plaque or Trophy. 

6.   Separation and seeding criteria:

a.    The following will be used for seeding at Middle School Duals State. Each team will be awarded:

i.   4 points for each past year Team Georgia Kids State Champion on your Team. ii.   3 points for each past year Team Georgia Kids State Placer on your Team.

iii.   3 points for each Team Georgia Kids State Champion from 1 year previous on your Team. iv.   2 points for each Team Georgia Kids State Placer from 1 year previous on your Team.

b.   Coaches must provide seeding information on athletes at time of online roster entry.

c.        Teams will be given a draw number upon registration for duals.

d.   Using the highest points only, one rating per athlete is permitted.

e.   Falsification of seeding criteria will result in forfeiture of team placement. f.        No more than 2 wrestlers per weight will score points.

g.    If teams are tied in seeding points, the lowest draw number will be seeded highest. h.   Teams will be separated and seeded based on total team points.

i.   Pool/Bracket A – 1, 8, 9, 16, Pool/Bracket B – 2, 7, 10, 15, Pool/Bracket C – 3, 6, 11, 14,

Pool/Bracket D - 4, 5, 12, 13. Teams with no criteria points will be placed blind draw into pools.

ii.   All non-seeded teams will be blind drawn into the brackets and pools.

i.      Seeding Meeting:  If required, the seeding meeting will take place on Saturday January 27th.  Time will be TBD and will be announced during the event.
